How to Set Up WireGuard VPN on Windows with VPNUK

Setting up WireGuard® VPNUK on Windows

This guide will walk you through the installation and configuration of WireGuard VPN on Windows, using the VPNUK service. The setup process is simple, secure, and ensures fast, encrypted access to the VPN.

WireGuard® configuration download

Please login using the VPN login username and password from the vpn account you would like to configure.
Click Here to download your WireGuard® configuration file, which is compatible with all devices.

IMPORTANT NOTES: A WireGuard® connection is currently only compatible with our Dedicated IP accounts. Each configuration file is generated automatically, twice per hour, the process can take up to 20 minutes to complete, it can therefore sometimes take up to 1 hour for a new configuration file to be created on new accounts. If you are a new user please allow the system time to generate your configuration file.

1: Download and Install WireGuard on Windows

  1. Visit the official WireGuard website: https://www.wireguard.com/install/
  2. Click on Windows Installer and download the latest version.
  3. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Once installed, launch the WireGuard application.

2. Download Your VPNUK WireGuard Configuration File

  1. Click here to download the WireGuard configuration file from our server.
  2. Log in with your VPNUK VPN account login usernamd and password.
  3. The system will fetch your WireGuard configuration file from the VPNUK server.
  4. Save the file to your Downloads folder or any convenient location.

3. Import the WireGuard Configuration File into the WireGuard App

  1. Open WireGuard on Windows.
  2. Click “Import tunnel from file”.
  3. Locate and select the configuration file you downloaded earlier.
  4. Click Open.
  5. The VPN connection will now be listed in the WireGuard interface.

4. Connect to VPNUK via WireGuard

  1. Click the Activate button next to your VPNUK WireGuard connection.
  2. Once connected, WireGuard will show your public IP, VPN endpoint, and handshake status.
  3. To confirm the connection, check your new IP address by visiting: https://www.ipaddress.com/. Your IP should now match your unique VPNUK IP.

Optional Settings

1. Enable Auto-Start

To ensure WireGuard VPN connects automatically when you start Windows:

  1. Open WireGuard.
  2. Click on your VPNUK connection and select Edit.
  3. Tick “On-demand activation” or “Start on boot” (depending on WireGuard version).
  4. Click Save.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Cannot connect to VPNUK servers?

  1. Ensure your WireGuard configuration file is correct and up to date, we would always recommend fetching a new configuration file from our server if you are unable to connect. Click here to download a new configuration file.
  2. Try restarting WireGuard and your internet connection or router.
  3. Check if your firewall or antivirus is blocking WireGuard.

VPN is connected, but no internet?

  1. Go to WireGuard > Edit Configuration and ensure AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0 is set correctly.
  2. Try restarting your Windows network adapter.
