Setting up VPN with ASUS Merlin Firmware.
Asuswrt-Merlin firmware is an alternative, custom version of that firmware. Developped by Eric Sauvageau, its primary goals are to enhance upon the existing firmware without bringing any radical changes, and to fix some of the known issues and limitations, while maintaining the same level of performance as the original firmware. Asuswrt-merlin officially supports the following router models: RT-N16, RT-N66U, RT-AC66U, RT-AC56U, RT-AC68U, RT-AC68P (same firmware as RT-AC68U), RT-AC87 (Note: the U, R and W variants are all supported, as they are the exact same hardware and firmware, only different marketing SKUs or different case color)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Setting up Merlin Firmware on a compatible ASUS router is reletively straight forward. Depending on how your network is configured, the setup of Merlin Firmware may require a small amount of experience and knowledge of how your internal network is configured. It is not possible fo rVPNUK to assist in the flashing of routers or the installation of Merlin firmware. It is also not possible for VPNUK to assist in the setup of the VPNUK service, nor can we be held responsible for damage caused by clients configuring uncompatible routers or flashing incorrect firmware. If you choose to setup your VPNUK connection through Merlin Firmware we have very limited support available. Please only install official Merlin firmware from the Merlin website onto compatible routers. Before you attempt to configure your router please setup a VPN connection on your computer to ensure your account is working. If you do choose to configure your connection through ASUS (Merlin Firmware), please note, that it is still largely unsupported and can be problematic. If you have any problems we only offer basic troubleshooting assistance. You should be prepared to lose internet connectivity and be ready and know how to return the router to it’s default settings.
