Setup Playstation PPTP

Setting up Bridged PPTP access on Playstation.

The following instructions go step by step through the creation process of a bridged PPTP connection on Playstation. The Playstation does not currently support direct VPN connections. If you have any problems with this connection type we strongly recommend using a router connection.

Prerequisites

You will need the following in order to create this XBox connection:
1. A Playstation
2. An ethernet cable
3. A laptop with Internet access
4. An active VPNUK account

Part 1 – PPTP Setup

Create a PPTP connection on the Laptop. You can do that following the setup instructions for your O/S available here: https://www.vpnuk.info/setup.html

Part 2 – Bridged Connection

1. Connect your PC to your Playstation with the Ethernet cable.

2. On the Playstation, go to System Settings > Network then make sure that your IP and DNS settings are set to automatic.

3. Go to the ‘Network and Sharing Center’ on your PC.

4. From ‘Network and Sharing Center’, click on ‘Change Adapter Settings’ in the left sidebar.

5. Right Click onto your active ‘Local Area Connection.’ Then navigate to ‘Networking > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’.

6. Click onto ‘Use the Following IP Address’ if it isn’t already set.

7. Set the IP to: ‘192.168.0.1’.

8. Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

9. Leave the rest of the settings blank.

10. Now go to your VPNUK connection and select properties.

11. Navigate to the ‘Sharing’ tab.

12. Select ‘Allow Other Computers to Connect Through This Connection’ option and change the ‘Home Networking Connection’ to your active ‘Local Area Connection’.

13. Uncheck the option to ‘Establish Dial-Up Connection’ and ‘Allow Other Network Users to Control’ boxes.

14. Check that you are now connected to your wireless network, and your VPN.

15. Test the network connection on your console.
