VPNUK supports multiple ports and protocols. If the default connection is blocked or performing poorly, switching ports or protocols often resolves the issue instantly.

UDP	`1194`	Default — best speed on open networks
TCP	`443`	Firewalled networks, hotels, offices
UDP	`8080`	Alternative if 1194 is blocked
TCP	`8080`	Stable alternative for restricted networks

How to Switch Port / Protocol

The easiest way is to use the OpenVPN Config Generator to download a config file with your chosen port pre-configured. Select your preferred server and protocol when generating the file.

Alternatively, you can edit your existing .ovpn config file directly and change the proto and port lines:

proto tcp
remote your-server.vpnuk.net 443
