Windows 7 is End of Life. Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in January 2020. We strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 10 or 11. The VPNUK app is compatible with Windows 7. WireGuard requires Windows 10 or later. OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP and PPTP all work on Windows 7.
VPNUK on Windows 7 — Connection Methods
The VPNUK Software app is compatible with Windows 7 and is the easiest way to connect. You can also set up OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec or PPTP manually. WireGuard requires Windows 10 or later.

OpenVPN
The most secure option on Windows 7. Use OpenVPN v2.4.x which is fully compatible. Download the client, import the VPNUK config file, enter your VPN username and password and connect.

Windows 7 includes IKEv2 support built in. Configure a VPN connection in Network and Sharing Centre using your server address, VPN username and password.
IKEv2 GuideL2TP / IPSec
Built-in Windows 7 L2TP/IPSec VPN client. No additional software required. Pre-shared key is 69000903.
PPTP (Legacy)
Basic built-in protocol. Not recommended for privacy-sensitive use. Only use PPTP where other connection types are unavailable.
